Northland Community House (NCH) is founded by Bill Owens (who grew up in the Northland Area) as part of the 149 year old Settlement House Movement that partners with individuals, families and groups within a specific geographic area to best assure they meet their basic needs and lead the best quality of life as defined by them.

Northland Community House’s work will come in the form of community building activities, program services, volunteerism, advocacy and information & referral.

Paid professional staff and volunteers will assist Northland Area residents to overcome barriers to independent living, food insecurity, social isolation, threats to secure housing to name a few challenges to contemporary life. The achievement of aspirational goals in the arts and relationships with others as well as education and recreation are also part of a full life and part of what Northland Community House can help the residents of Northland access that might already be available but currently out of their reach!

Since being established with the State of Ohio on October 20, 2022, NCH has received its recognition as a 501c3 charitable organization by the IRS on November 27, 2023.

Northland Community House’s first program is in collaboration with Northland residents that have formed the Salem Garden Collaborative. The program focuses on a community garden at Salem Elementary School that will serve not only students of the school and their families but will include residents of the immediate neighborhood of Salem Village and their older adult residents.
